About Grayson County Housing Authority

The Housing Authority of Grayson County opened the doors in 1975 with the goal of helping low income families in the Grayson County area. The Section 8 HCV program is set up to assist low income families with the cost of housing. After all information has been certified, the paperwork will be issued. Once the eligible family finds a rental unit and the landlord and applicant complete the paperwork, an inspection will be completed to assure it meets HUD's Housing Quality Standards. The requested rent must also pass a rent reasonableness test for determining if the rent is comparable to other rents in the area or location. Once approved, the Housing Office will enter into a contract with the landlord for making monthly payments on behalf of the family's rental obligations.
